Hi I am Joanna Ward, 'The Coaching OT'.
I have been a qualified Occupational Therapist for over 13 years and hold a level 5 qualification in Coaching. Over my career I have worked within a range of health and social care settings and have extensive experience in supporting the development and wellbeing of others. I am passionate about helping people to identify personal goals and support them to establish practical and realistic ways to achieve them.
My background as a Occupational Therapist has provided me with knowledge and skills to consider the relationship between a person, their environment and their activities, including the impact physical and mental health conditions can have on a person's wellbeing. I have experience in coaching sessions with a range of individuals in health and social care settings as well as private sector companies. I have a specialist interest in supporting people who have long term health conditions to maximise their independence and wellbeing, enabling them to live empowered and enabled futures.
Coaching sessions provide a protected space to reflect and identify positive ways to support your future. Please contact me if you would like to have further conversations regarding support tailored to your needs. It would be a pleasure to work with you in the future.
I became a Occupational Therapist as I am passionate about supporting people to live meaningful lives. From working within health and social care settings I have seen the impact of a range of conditions on individual's health and wellbeing and barriers to their independence. I also have first hand experience in living with fluctuating fatigue due to my own medical conditions.
Throughout my career I have observed the importance of empowering individuals and valuing the unique experience of each person. This developed my interest in Coaching where supportive conversations allow space for a person to explore their thoughts and feelings, and process the impact of health conditions on their lives.
Through personalised and realistic goals I have seen individual's with long term conditions regain confidence, independence and wellbeing to live empowered futures on their terms. Condition management can be complex and 'quick fixes' are often not a reality for many, however, with the right support and strategies individuals can live empowered futures.
